Photoshop Tutorials

Textures can be applied in a variety of ways to achieve different effects. Most techniques involve adding a texture to a new layer above your photograph, and then adjustments are made to the layer blending mode and opacity. Layer masks are often used to remove or reduce the texture effect from certain areas of the photo (like a person's face for example).

We've posted two Photoshop video tutorials that explain the process in detail. We hope you find them helpful. Remember, you can always download small versions of our textures if you'd like to try to these techniques yourself.

Happy New Year!

Last month we polled our customers asking for feedback on how to improve our site and products. Based on the results, here's our plan for 2012:

More Download Options - When given the choice between offering texture packs, CD/DVD's or membership plans, over 90% voted for texture packs. The demand was so high for texture packs we worked hard to make them available immediately. We now have nine themed texture packs available for download! Each pack contains 15 large images (3300px x 2200px) for just $10. That's just 67 cents per image!
More Wide Angle Shots - Many customers said they want to see wider angle shots in our library. Wide angle textures make great backgrounds for portrait photography. In 2012 we'll make sure to include a better mix of perspectives.
More Vertical Textures - Our textures are displayed horizontally in the gallery. Once downloaded, they can easily be rotated for vertical layouts. However, as many of you pointed out, some patterned textures (like brick) don't look right when rotated. We'll start including more vertical shots this year.

Twitter and Facebook Updates - Grunge Textures now has dedicated Facebook and Twitter pages. Follow us and we'll keep you in the loop regarding new texture updates, special discounts and other useful information!

New Site Online!

We've Completely Redesigned Our Site

After several months of development we're excited to launch a new and improved Grunge Textures!

So what's changed?

We now offer commercial licensing! This was one of the most requested options on the old site (previously the images could only be used for personal use).
You can download small versions (900 pixels x 600 pixels) of our textures for free. They are provided under the same commercial license as paid versions.
Larger resolution files are available: MED (2100x1400) for $2, and LRG (3300x2200) for $3. This is a great value considering the image quality and flexible commercial licensing.
We've done some housekeeping. The categories have been condensed and all the low-res files purged from our library. We've also added lots of new content. Be sure to check out the abstract and paper categories.
Galleries now have larger thumbnails and you have the option to enlarge images on the preview page before downloading.

In the weeks ahead we will be adding more features and purchase options. Stay tuned...
